## What is the Abyss?

The Abyss is Voidling Bound's endgame mode — a roguelike challenge featuring increasingly difficult runs with escalating rewards. After each victory, you choose: dive deeper for greater threats and greater rewards, or retreat to safety.

The playtest featured Abyss up to Level 30. The full game's maximum is not yet confirmed by the community.

## How Abyss Works

1. Select your voidling and loadout at the Abyss entrance
2. Clear waves of enemies on each level
3. After clearing a level, choose: continue deeper or extract
4. Deeper levels = harder enemies + better rewards
5. Death means losing un-extracted rewards

## Abyss Rewards

- Corrupted DNA Catalyzers — equip to push stats beyond normal limits
- Rare gene fragments — higher drop rates than expeditions
- Exclusive Mutated Perks — some perks only drop in Abyss
- Large mutagen payouts at milestone levels (every 5 levels)

## Best Voidlings for Abyss

### S-Tier Abyss Picks
- **Ur-Sek** — Form swapping + fastest ultimate = unmatched survivability
- **Nimiod** — Turret sustain with infinite jumps. Turrets provide constant DPS
- **Morfang** — Pyro branch melts waves of enemies

### A-Tier
- **Packuran** — Hatchlings distract while beam DPS ramps up
- **Gwigoon** — Clones absorb damage, good for survivability

## Abyss Strategy Tips

- Start with your tankiest voidling at low levels
- Switch to DPS voidlings for milestone boss fights (every 5 levels)
- Always extract before you hit your wall — greed kills
- Corrupted DNA Catalyzers compound — farm early levels for them
- Plasma element voidlings excel due to universal faction effectiveness
